RAIN at the Helsinki City Rescue Department

RAIN HelsinkiRAIN Project had a one day brainstorm meeting with the Helsinki City Rescue Department on 13th May. The meeting was hosted by Rescue Commander Simo Wecksten. The aim was to highlight and map the possibilities for the end user involvement and wider societal impact of the project. Project Coordinator Prof Alan O’Connor from the Trinity College introduced the Project and its possibilities for the end users and rescue services in particular. Prof Uwe Ulbrich from the Institut für Meteorologie, Freie Universität Berlin made a presentation on Weather warnings: from Extreme event Information to Communication and action. Other RAIN partners taking part were Senior Researcher Ari Venäläinen and Senior Research Otto Hyvärinen from the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Dr Timo Hellenberg from Hellenberg International Ltd.
